  • We recommend moving the houses daily.  This can change depending on the condition of your field and the weather.

There are multiple factors that make our chicken houses efficient, including...

  • There are many automated features - especially the automated feeding system
  • The overall design is made to maximize efficiency
  • The house requires very little maintenance
  • It holds several days' worth of water and feed
  • The crank and belt system allows for easy egg gathering

We include several design factors to help make cleaner hens and eggs, including...

  • The rollaway nests move the eggs away from the hens as soon as they are laid.
  • The floor is a mesh that allows the manure and dirt to drop through.  This keeps the house and hens cleaner.
  • There is a 2" gap between the flooring and the actual nests.  This prevents manure and dirt from building up at the nests or inside the nests.

A chicken hoop house is a style of chicken housing that usually does not have a floor, is placed on pasture, and is moved at regular intervals.

You can use a greenhouse as a chicken coop, but it will take some alterations.

You'll board up the sides at least 2  feet, and add a heavier plastic to create more shade in the greenhouse during the hot summer months.

You may also need to add a fence to keep chickens from pecking the greenhouse plastic.

The easiest way to winterize a chicken hoop coop is to pull inside a larger outbuilding. Ideally, the chickens should be able to leave their coop and peck and scratch in the large building just like they did during the summer.

If that doesn't work, try winterizing your hoop coop with these tips:

  1. Add hay bales to the sides and ends of the coop to keep it warm
  2. Double up the tarp to make sure no rips or tears occur. This also keeps a little more heat in the coop.
  3. Consider adding a water warmer

A hoop house can be 5-10 degrees warmer than the temperature outside.
